Opening Plenary Set
April 11, 2008 at 8:38 am | In General Conference News | Leave a CommentTags: Opening Plenary
The ACM-NE usually uses the opening plenary at its Spring Conference to focus on PEG in the local state or region in which the conference is held. This year will be no different.
This year’s Opening Plenary is entitled “RI PEG, How it’s Different, Why it Works”
Being the smallest state in the Union presents Rhode Island with advantages and disadvantages. And that goes for PEG access as well. PEG in Rhode Island is controlled by a quasi-government agency that also oversees Rhode Island PBS. Their studios are spread out throughout the state and serve many communities. The state also has three state-wide inter-connect channels that have become extremely popular.
Joining us as part of our plenary panel will be Elizabeth Espositio, Director of PEG in Rhode Island. She will be joined by two producers, Bob Venturini who produces An Hour With Bob, and John Carlevale who heads up a political program called State of the State.
It should be an enlightening discussion. Make sure you join us on Friday, May 9th at 9:30am.

Video Server Compatability and Program Sharing a Highlight of the Spring Conference
April 7, 2008 at 10:50 am | In General Conference News | Leave a CommentFor years the issue of program sharing has been a concern to many of us who run access centers. How can we get our hands on other programs that may be of interest to our viewers? In what format can we obtain these programs?
For months a group representing the video server industry and the ACM has met to discuss ways by which this “digital bicycling” can efficiently and practically take place. Progress on the issue has been made and the ACM-NE Spring Conference will be the first opportunity for you to find out how this new program sharing initiative will work.
Find out for yourself. Make a point to attend the conference and attend these workshops. Get the all the conference details here.

Hotel Room Sharing
March 25, 2008 at 8:23 am | In General Conference News | 12 CommentsWe appreciate that the cost of hotel rooms at the Renaissance Providence is a cause of concern for some. So let’s use this site to do something about it!
Let’s use the comments of this post to bring people together who are willing to share a room. Whether you can afford a room or not, add your name and contact information in the comments section if you are willing to take on a roommate. It will also be helpful if you add where you are coming from…that may open up some travel sharing opportunities!
Let’s use this online community to help each other. Thanks!
